The Effect of Estrogenic Hormones on the Bacterial Content of the Uterus *
نویسندگان
چکیده
The impression is general that the uterus under normal conditions does not harbor bacteria. This is supposedly true of both man and laboratory animals. Following parturition, however, serious uterine infections may occur. In laboratory animals short periods of treatment with estrogenic hormones have usually provided very little evidence of uterine infection.' Extensive leukocytic infiltration, presumably aseptic, has appeared after the action of estrogenic hormones has ceased. This regressive phase was quite similar to the post-ovulatory stage, late metestrum, in the normal animal. WAThen rats6' 8, 11 or mice2' 4, ' were treated with estrogens for long periods of time in attempts to produce mammary and cervical cancers, inflammatory or suppurative uterine lesions or pyometra appeared. In some animals these lesions were extreme; the horns of the uteri were distended with pus, sometimes the gut was constricted by adhesions, and at times a generalized peritonitis occurred. If uteri were transplanted in a subcutaneous position or ligated from the cervical canal, pyometra did not occur.9 In order to test further the possibility that treatment with estrogenic hormones might induce a condition favoring infection, the following series of experiments were undertaken.

اثر عصاره آبی هویج Daucus carota بر انقباضهای رحم موش صحرایی غیرآبستن
Background and Objective: Daucus carota has antioxidant effect and a high content of beta carotene. It has been reported that Daucus carota has estrogenic and hormonal effects on female reproductive system. Since there was no experimental research about the effect of this plant on uterus contraction, we therefore decided to study the effect of aqueous extract of Daucus carota on uteru...
متن کاملEffect of Ovarian Induction Using PMSG and HCG hormones on Uterus Dendritic Cells Population in NMRI mice
Introduction: Ovarian hyper-stimulation is widely used in IVF clinics. The main purpose of this method is to stimulate folliculogenesis and increase the number of oocytes in one cycle. Following ovarian hyper-stimulation, hormonal secretion of the ovary, particularly estradiol and progesterone dramatically increases. Immune cells especially dendritic cells have receptors for the estradiol...
متن کاملDeleterious effects of estrogenic endocrine disruptors on marine organisms: Histological Observed Effects and Some Novel Useful Monitoring Bioassays
Aquatic environments receive significant levels of chemical contaminants generated by human activities. Among these pollutants, we noticed the xenobiotics known as reproductive toxicants and endocrine disruptors. The endocrine disruption in wildlife has been the subject of many reviews and workshops in recent years. Field observations of reproductively abnormal organisms and population declines...
متن کاملA Review on the Importance of Hormones Monitoring and Their Removal in Conventional Wastewater Treatment Systems
Introduction: Micro pollutants have become one of the most important environmental concerns around the world. These natural and synthetic compounds have been called Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) due to their interfere with the normal function of the endocrine system in humans and animals. They include natural and synthetic hormones and their metabolites, surfactant, insecticide, as well...
